This 2 day class is the perfect level if you’re looking to advance your screen printing skills and knowledge . You’ll prepare your own artwork to expose on screen from either photographs or drawings and combine with cut paper stencils, you’ll develop a selection of personalised artworks for either paper of cloth. You can work towards a personalised project outcome with support and encouragement. Working with water based inks you’ll also learn how to mix your own colour palette and experiment with transparency and layering of colour. No previous experience required but perfect for anyone who has completed another intro class.

DRESSMAKING TECHNIQUES 1

A fabulous one day workshop covering the essential dressmaking techniques required when garment making. You will create a folder of calico samplers in constuction techniques which include a range of seams, darts, pleats, various zips and pockets. Along with the folder of techniques you will also have a manual to take away. This course is for those with a little dressmaking/sewing machine experience. All materials are provided. Sewing machines are provided but students are also welcome to bring their own.

This three hour beginners class is the perfect introduction to screen printing on fabrics. In the class you will become familiar with screen printing tools, equipment, techniques and primary skills to develop personalised sample prints on cloth and gain tutor advice and guidance in a friendly, supportive studio environment. Your experimental textile samples will be ready to frame, stitch, make into products or use towards a portfolio of techniques.
No prior experience required.

Textile artist Annette leads you throughout this weekend class. Working with repurposed textiles you’ll explore the ‘foreshore’ - where land meets the sea. You’ll learn how to make patterns, textures and marks on recycled cloth using a gelli plate. Selecting, cutting and arranging fabrics to develop your landscape. You’ll add sheers like muslin, organza, voile and tulle; mixing those with your textured gelli printed fabrics to build up the landscape surface. Finalising details with a variety of slow hand stitched techniques.
Beginners welcome.

This 1 day class is the perfect entry level or refresher print experience in silk screen printing. You’ll be introduced to the essential tools and processes used in screen printing onto either fabric or paper…it’s your choice. You’ll prepare your own artwork to expose on screen and combine with cut paper stencils. You’ll develop a collection of personalised compositions on either cloth or fine art papers. Working with water based printing inks & textile mediums you’ll learn how to mix your own colour palette and experiment with transparency and layering of colour. No previous experience required.
Advice on image preparation will be sent well in advance of this class.

A wonderful collaborative day with IoM & Bookbinding with Cass. Spend the morning learning screen print techniques on paper/cloth using pattern exposed screens. Produce a wonderful printed fabric cover & range of colourful upcycled papers. In the afternoon work with your hand-printed papers & fabric to make a hardback book with Japanese stab stitch spine. There is something special about making a book with cloth & papers you’ve printed yourself. All materials are included.
